Noteworthy...
Mrs. Fields brownies should not be overlooked. What a delightful treat. Special is buy 2 get 1 free (obviously had to do it), so I got one regular chocolate and 2 peanut butter yumminess. Don't worry, planning on giving the third to my roommie...if my class tonight doesn't get the better of me.

A Slight Disappointment on the Foody Front
The eatings in Utah this past weekend were not as fruitful as planned, however some good eatin' did happen.
- Cafe Rio, as mentioned previously, was hit twice. Both times got a veggie salad. First time I ordered extra cilantro but got roots with it. Not a good idea, so went with a normal amount second time around. Nothing beats tearing off a piece of tortilla and dipping it in creamy tomatillo ranch dressing.
- Guru was a new place I tried. It's on center street in Provo, so tucked in a quaint little shopping area. There weren't many good sounding veggie options (I'm a vegetarian who hates most tofu), so I got the least offensive one. It wasn't that good, but other people's entrees looked good. But if you go there, you HAVE to get the sweet potato fries. Probably the best I've had.
- I also tried Zupas, which was highly recommended by most. The food was good, the people who worked there could have passed for the missing link. Not in looks (let's be honest, no one in Utah would leave their house without a perfect hair tousle and face painted with makeup), but in brains. "What did you order?" the lady at the register asked me. "The bbq salad," I answered. "What did you order?" she asked again, and this conversation continued a few more times before she exclaimed, "Oh! The bbq salad!" what?
- For a delicious round of sushi the Happy Sumo is probably the best place to go in the greater Salt Lake City area. I'm pretty biased toward LA sushi joints, but this place offers more than various takes on the California Roll. Their eel sauce is a little less eely than normal though.
Not as many restaurants were visited as planned, but that just leaves more for next time. Like a delicious enormous milkshake at Iceburg.

Foods of the World Unite!
Strangely enough, I've found that Utah has some of the best eateries in the country. Maybe it's the below-poverty-level minumum wage, or maybe it's the Mormons with all of the mouths to feed. Either way, it makes for an excellent trip.
I'm heading off to Utah today for my cousin's wedding, and I am getting super excited about the foods I will partake of. Here's a little sampling of the places I enjoy most in the City of the Salty Lake:
- Curry in a Hurry: Possibly the best fast-Indian food I've ever eaten. The people are so incredibly nice, and it's usually 2 meals worth. Not to mention the declious Naan...there are 2 locations, both on main street I believe, one downtown and one on 2100 south
- Cafe Rio/Costa Vida: Utah staple. It's quite arguable as to which is better, but I think they both have their perks. Cafe Rio has a superior salad, but Costa Azul has the mango salsa. Combine the two and they'd be unstopable.
- Noodles and Co.: Nowhere but Utah can you find an inbetweeny fast food/sit down restaurant, let alone dozens. Here they have all sorts of noodley dishes from Italian to Thai, and every country inbetween.

Vacation from Real
I am currently on vacation... I'm visiting the beautiful state of Pennsylvania and it's been interesting. Here's what I've said so far on my trip
"Ohh it's Friendly's... I need a sundae sooo bad"
"Let's get our eat on!"
"I think I might tap out... but I kinda want another plate."
"I'm gonna need a pretzel, kettle corn or kettle chips A sap"
"Let's drive to Philly... I need a cheesesteak"
"So what are our dinner plans when we're in New York?"
And I'm only on day 2.... get excited for a few more updates.

Mexicali
Upon entering Mexicali I saw a busboy dumping a huge basket of tortilla chips into a warmer, and I though, oh here we go again another Mexican place that fakes how good they are. Lucky for them I was pleasantly surprised.
Although my waiter seemed to be one of the stupidest in his profession, which in my opinion is saying something, the food was really quite delicious. The menu was expansive with pages upon pages of options- something for everyone or just way to much to choose from. I decided to stick with the lunch menu so my fellow diners didn't get upset over the length of time it would take to narrow down and figure out what I wanted. Even the lunch menu has something for everyone... from a soup and salad pansy option to the gluttonous 1/3 lb "Mexi burger". I decided to go with something called the _insert Spanish adjective here_ cobb burrito.
I was slightly annoyed that they didn't keep the homemade chips flowing ( yes they were homemade) but it could have been that I insulted the waiter and his ability to remember drink orders. (Is it that hard to remember that the one person without the drink must have been the one that ordered the water?), but we really didn't reach the end of the basket till the food came. Come to find out _Spanish adjective_ Cobb Burrito meant, bleu cheese, squirts of guacamole, tender chicken chunks and something I've decided to call MexiRanch. I once again started to judge the place as one of those fake restaurants that healthy up everything, but after looking around the table I realized that maybe my reading of menu items descriptions should venture deeper than looking for chicken and guacamole in the list. Everyone else around the table had very traditional, and by traditional I mean fat American traditional, Mexican food.
In the end, my breath reeked, my stomach was full and my taste buds were happy... I really couldn't ask for more. If I did stars it would get a 3 out of 5.

My world might be crubbling
It's a sad dark day for the United States indeed when they have to release news like this...
Workers at Mother's Cookies were told earlier this month that the company is shutting down for good and cookies will no longer be made. Now who's going to make those delicious frosted animal cookies? An American original bites the dust
The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy last Monday. Their distribution plants in Ohio and Canada are closed forever. The private equity firm that owned Mother's blamed rising fuel and ingredient prices. (http://www.nationalledger.com/artman/publish/article_272623200.shtml)

Meet the Fat Girls- Michelle
So I'm sure you're asking yourself who would start a blog that calls out their eating habits and their size? My answer: two girls who are (far too) passionate about food. So here's a bit about me.
Michelle- I am 20-something SWF (single white female for those of you that aren't acronym savvy) who has unrequited love for food. The most common thing that comes out of my mouth when mentioning a location is "oh my gosh did you ever eat at..." Some may say i drown my emotions in food, but really I think that eating is a pleasure, a treat and something that breaks up the normal and boring mundane of life. I am constantly photographed with food either in my mouth, hanging out my mouth or somewhere within the frame- and yes i do consider this a talent. I think the most important thing to reallly know about me is that I eat like carbs are going out of style...
